News: Latest blitz on underage drinking

Following on from the Youth Alcohol Action Plan launched last year, a new initiative is being embarked upon this summer to combat underage drinking. Between them, each of the 69 youth crime priority areas will receive an extra £1.4 million of funding, on top of £350,000 which each of them already have to tackle crime and disorder by young people. Every area will have to justify how it will use the new money and one would expect that some of it may be used to bolster test purchasing campaigns in licensed premises.
