The Gambling Act 2005 came into force on 1st September 2007, updating all gambling laws that were several decades old.

The objectives of the Act are to:

  • Keep crime out of gambling
  • Ensure that gambling is conducted fairly and openly
  • Protect children and vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling

The Act provides new powers and protections for both new and old forms of gambling and requires a new system of licences for the operator: please contact Nick Arron on his direct line on 0115 953 8510 or email n.arron@popall.co.uk. Alternatively, call the main number on 0115 953 8500.
